Timebug
WHAT IS TIMEBUG?!
Timebug is a game bug which affects the displayed lap time. In the PC version at least this bug exists for all players. The reference times you will see later (16-18 minutes, 30-35 minutes etc), refer to the amount of time that player has been racing or had an individual map open (including restarts). Once you go back to the main menu, the total time would reset to 0, so you would have to wait another 15 minutes before timebug will start over. The ratios below show the ratio between the DISPLAYED TIME and the REAL TIME.
The results of my findings have shown the following:
At 0-16 minuets: There is NO Timebug
At 16-18 minuets: The “Fast”Timebug starts. This bug has a ratio of 1.003 (1.0032) x the real time (so a real lap time of 1 second would be displayed as 1.003 seconds)Please note this bug is slightly less ratio than the Slow Timebug below, so take care when dividing. To Divide the ratio is 0.997 (0.9968).
At 30-35 minuets: The “Fast”Timebug ends and the “Slow” Timebug starts. This bug has a ratio of 0.996 (0.99575) x the real time
At 90 minuets +: The “Slow”Timebug ends and the “Super Fast” Timebug starts. The ratio of this bug is still unknown but as an estimate it is about 1.075 x real time.
Advice:
Try and Race always without Timebug (Below 16 minutes of play), as this will avoid unnecessary confusion. If you race a long map between bugs, for example world loop start at 14th minuet and end at 19th minuet then you will end up with half the race bugged and half of it not, so your ratio could be something like 1.0015 x real time, so I suggest you avoid this. Other solutions to the problem also include the use of video comparisons but note that this is only a direct comparison to you and another, so it won’t necessarily tell you if Timebug is in play or not, unless you use a video of your own which is for sure without Timebug. Also if you record using Fraps, you can use the time reference in the movie to calculate the time if you wish.
Why is this Important?
Timebug is important to know for ANYONE who races in MW, because if you race in Timebug zones it will affect your time. So you might get PR without even knowing and disregard it, or make what you think is a pr but in fact it is just slow bug time, so it is not better!
Finally, you should state in your video if your time is timebugged or not. This will be useful in your own reference and to others avoiding unneccesary calculation. Video's are the most solid form of proof also of your times.
